STRAIGHT FROM THE MAT - NEWSWIRE

2/1 Raw house show results from Cape Girardeau, MO: Shawn Michaels over
Chris Jericho, Randy Orton over CM Punk in a non title match, Jack
Swagger over Tommmy Dreamer, Rey Mysterio over Kane, Kofi Kingston over
Dolph Ziggler, Mike Knox won a Battle Royal over Cryme Tyme, Dolph
Ziggler, Ted Dibiase, and Cody Rhodes, and Melina over Beth Phoenix.

Notes: The show was a sellout for the building which holds around 3500.
No Cena which fans weren't happy about. Mike Knox is apparently now in
the elimination chamber match at NWO after winning the Battle Royal. As
I write this they actually just announced the win on WWE.com so Knox is
in the chamber match along with Mysterio, Kingston, Jericho, Cena, and
the final slot goes to the winner of a match tonight on Raw.

2/1 Smackdown house show results from Huntsville, AL: MVP over Shelton
Benjamin in a non-title match, Umaga over Jimmy Wang Yang, Kizarny over
Chavo Guerrero, The Great Khali over Eric Escobar, Carlito & Primo over
Brian Kendrick & Ezekiel Jackson, Eve over Natalya, and Edge over Triple
H & Vladimir Kozlov.

Notes: The show drew an estimated 7,000. They announced Jeff Hardy
wasn't appearing as advertisied due to the TV angle. Eric Escobar is a
29-year-old developmental talent from FCW. He started in Puerto Rico for
Victor Quiñones in 2000 and was trained by Super Crazy. Guess what, it's
not only Shane McMahon that gets to beat up wrestlers now, referee's are
getting in on the act. At the conclusion of the Edge-Triple H-Kozlov
match they did a deal where Edge is mad and goes after ref Scott
Armstrong who drop kicks him out of the ring and Edge runs to the back.
Armstrong is the oldest son of "Bullet" Bob.

Raw is live tonight from St. Louis. Nothing announced for the show at
press time other than a match for the final spot in the elimination
chamber. We're looking for any reader reports from the show and also
reports from the Smackdown show tonight in Tupelo.

Our deepest condolences go out to Bill "Percy Pringle/Paul Bearer"
Moody. His wife Diana passed away yesterday.

Don't forget you can send all your wrestling-related questions to
WrestlingGlobe@aol.com and we will try our best to answer them all.

The Brooke Hogan vs. Reid Flair "match" may be postponed due to Flair
allegedly suffering a leg injury in training. The two were set to meet
in the ring at at the Florida State Fair on 2/6. I say allegedly as the
Flair's are heading to Canada this weekend for a big pay day. "An
Evening with Ric Flair" is scheduled for 2/7 in Edmonton. The event will
be shot on DVD with Flair sharing stories on his career and answering
questions from fans. More info here: http://tinyurl.com/clekyx

Kelly Kelly was on Bubba the Love Sponge on 1/30. She talked about how
WWE signed her straight out of high school after John Laurinaitis saw
her photo. She trained in OVW for one week (yes, one week) before being
brought in for TV, and now she continues to train on her off days in FCW
in Tampa. When asked if she makes good money she said the video game
cheques were very good and she drives a Beemer. She said she still keeps
in touch with ex-BF Andrew "Test" Martin -- he wants to go to school to
become a personal trainer and occasionally wrestles in Japan.

The WWE's UK distributor of DVD's Silver Vision sent word that the Randy
Savage DVD hasn't been confirmed at this point. They are also having a 3
for 2 sale at the moment at www.silvervision.co.uk which includes the
Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper, Ric Flair and Four Horseman DVD's which I
highly recommend.

Details have been released on the upcoming Greatest Stars of the 90's
three-disc DVD set. Fifteen wrestlers are profiled on the DVD including
Shawn Michaels, Yokozuna, The Rock, Kevin Nash, Owen Hart, Ric Flair,
Mick Foley, Hulk Hogan, Triple H, Bret Hart, Lex Luger, Sting, Razor
Ramon, The Undertaker, and Steve Austin. It is scheduled to be released
in April. There are also a ton of matches including: Bret Hart vs. Shawn
Michaels from Survivor Series 92, Sting vs. Vader from Slamboree 94,
Mankind vs. Triple H from SummerSlam 97, and Steve Austin vs. The
Undertaker from SummerSlam 98

The Wrestler earned an estimated gross of $2.35 million at the box
office this past weekend, taking the domestic total over $13 million.

The trailer for Dwayne Johnson's next movie "Race To Witch Mountain" is
up here: http://tinyurl.com/cs4ly2

Amy "Lita" Dumas will be signing autographs at the Staten Island Super
Sign on 2/7 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island. Also appearing:
Jackie Gayda Haas, ODB, Christy Hemme, Balls Mahoney, and Brutus
Beefcake.

From the 'Where are they now files'... The first Tough Enough winner
Maven Huffman was spotted in Tampa over the weekend at Sean "Diddy"
Combs' Super Bowl party. He now works for the Home Shopping Network
selling fitness equipment.

The 2/9 Mickey Rourke-Roddy Piper appearance on Jimmy Kimmel is actually
a repeat of their 1/14 appearance.

On this day in wrestling history:
* 1928 - Ed "Strangler" Lewis defeated Wayne Munn to win the Illinois
and Michigan version of the World Heavyweight Title
* 1950 - Genichiro Tenryu is born in Katsuyama, Japan
* 1964 - Vittorio Apollo & Dan McClarty defeated Chris & John Tolos for
the WWWF Tag Team title
* 1980 - Teddy Hart is born in Calgary, Alberta
* 1986 - Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton defeated Rick Morton & Robert
Gibson for the NWA World Tag Team titles
* 2000 - Jacqueline defeated Harvey Whippleman for the WWF Women's title
