Frank Stallone on a wrestling talk show? We had occasion
to sit down with the talented musician and actor just a few short days ago
in an interview which has already rippled through the cast and crew of Hulk
Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling... And we're just now sending out
the transcript!
In a rare interview, Stallone talks about his experience on the pro wrestling
reality show and lets loose on a few of his fellow cast members. Since this
interview was recorded, Erin Murphy has already been on the Epicenter newsmaker
line doing an interview of her own to air this week responding to Stallone's
remarks.
Frank also has a strong opinion of former NBA star Dennis Rodman! Maybe CCW
will result in a Celebrity Death Match on PPV? I'd pay to see it!
FRANK STALLONE
- We welcome former Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship
Wrestling contestant Frank Stallone to the show using his famed hit "Far
from Over" as his theme song. He starts off saying that he was surprised
to be voted off so soon.
- He was especially surprised that he was voted off before Erin Murphy &
Dennis Rodman. James asks if him not wanting to jump off the platform had
anything to do with it, but Frank doesn't think so. He says that Hogan even
told him "I wouldn't jump off that for a Million Dollars"
- He also says he didn't "get hired to jump off things. He was hired to kick
ass"
- He felt that the show he watched that week was kind of boring. He enjoyed
the previous episodes, but the one he just watched didn't click with him.
Stallone says the show does get better though.
- He got involved with the show through show producer Jason Hervey. Frank
was in the middle of his own show, and said he didn't like wrestling given
his boxing background "If you get down on the mat in boxing, you aren't having
a good career" But he agreed to do it.
- He felt the guys didn't get enough time to practice, and there was a lot
of danger involved in what was being done. He was weary of letting the actors
do certain moves to him. Frank feels they should have been taking lessons
for five weeks before the show filmed.
- When working with Dennis Rodman, he says that Rodman caught him with stiff
elbow smash and says that he'd knock him out. Stallone said that Rodman was
rough on a few other people too.
- Stallone says he feels Dennis Rodman and Butterbean had an unfair advantage
going into the show. He cites that Rodman had worked quite a few matches
in WCW and Butterbean had been involved in a few things in the WWE.
- Stallone says he doesn't dislike Rodman at all, but says that he would
have knocked him out if Rodman stiffed him again. He repeats his comments
towards Rodman a few more times throughout the interview, but also says that
he respects Rodman. Also, he states that he'd never try it with Butterbean.
- He says that Hulk Hogan is the best, and he puts over Beefcake & Knobbs
as well.
- When talking about Erin Murphy, he says that she was clumsy and feels that
she should have been eliminated before him.
- Dennis Rodman hurt Knobbs trying an aerial move, and says Knobbs is a pro
and knows how to take almost anything thrown at him. He also mentions that
he spoke to Knobbs, Brutus, and Hulk about Rodman and says Hogan said he
never knew he was so stiff in the ring and joked that there was a reason
he always ended up on the same side of the ring as him in their matches.
- He hopes the show does really well because he likes all of the guys involved
in creating are great guys. However he's not entirely willing to come back
with something.
- He really liked Danny Bonaduce, Tiffany, & Nikki Ziering the most.
When talking about Nikki, he says that she was funny because she didn't really
care all that much. He says that Erin was nice, but really got into the show
and was a little clutz. He again expressed a little bit of disappointment
that he was voted off before the "little girl from Bewitched". He feels he
was voted off before her because they had just released Tiffany and didn't
want to eliminate two women right away.
- In response to Knobbs' comment about him being "the other Stallone" after
he refused to take the jump, he says that he didn't like the comment. He
has always been afraid of heights, and says he called Knobbs as soon as he
heard it on the show and asked him what was up with the remark. Knobbs said
it was "all bullsh** done for the camera". Stallone believes that because
the two have been friends off camera for years.
- He also puts Jimmy Hart & Eric Bischoff over as really nice guys.
- Going back to the Rodman hit, he says that Rodman wasn't very apologetic
about the hit, and actually tried to hurt everybody he worked with.
- When talking about the TV audience, he's heard nothing but good things
ratings wise. He does imply that those who watch the show are not exactly
NASA rocket scientists.
- Going off from the above, James mentions that Jake "The Snake" Roberts
recently said in our interview with him that Hulk Hogan's CCW doesn't hurt
the integrity of pro wrestling, it hurts the integrity of the people who
watch it. Frank Stallone said, without missing a beat, "Really? What Chuck
E Cheese is Jake wrestling at this weekend?" Stallone says the new Mickey
Rourke movie "The Wrestler" is based off of Jake Roberts' career loosely
except Mickie's character gets a happy ending.
- The discussion then shifts towards Frank's music career in which he talks
about the wide array of musical styles he's done. He loves playing guitar.
- He also has his own show coming out called "Stallone...Frank That Is" and
is doing really well right now.
- Before leaving, Frank teases that despite being voted off that he might
be coming back to make special appearances saying that "there are people
with an IQ under 30 that'll tune in" which causes James to bring up Jake
Roberts' comments towards from CCW that he made on TII! He says overall,
he had fun on the show though.
- When talking about the crowd, he says he thinks they came from an insane
asylum. "They must have picked them up off the streets...it was the worst
fans you could ever have"
- The interview closes with a plug for his Myspace page and another teaser
for his reappearance on the CCW show.
