Badbuy Rate for Cyber Sunday, Buyrate for No Mercy

After a figure of 162,000 buys was WWE's first released estimates for the Cyber Sunday PPV on October 26, it turns out the show only did 102,000 domestic buys making it the third lowest total in WWE history behind the ECW-only December to Dismember PPV and one PPV event in 1996 reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The show has continued to pull in low buyrates since 2005 despite the fan interaction gimmick. The show featured Chris Jericho vs. Batista for the World Title with Steve Austin as special guest referee, Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy for the WWE Title and The Undertaker vs. Big Show in a Last Man Standing match. Last year's show drew 194,000 buys. Despite a low number for the Cyber Sunday PPV, there was better news for WWE in the buyrate for the No Mercy PPV earlier in the month on October 5. The show drew 238,000 buys with 150,000 of those buys being domestic (which is above average for "B" PPV events) reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The show featured Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels in a Ladder match for the World Title, Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy for the WWE Title, The Undertaker vs. Big Show and Batista vs. JBL in a #1 contendership match. Last year's show drew 271,000 buys which going in didn't have a main event with John Cena suffering a torn pec and promising that a new WWE Champion would be crowned that night which started with Randy Orton, Triple H and then back to Randy Orton.
