IWF To Hold 9th Annual Tournament of Champions

Independent Wrestling Federation Website: www.WrestlingIWF.com MySpace: www.MySpace.com/WrestlingIWF IWF Wrestling 9th Annual Tournament of Champions this Saturday & Sunday: Two-Day, 16-Man, Single-Elimination Competition in West Paterson, NJ Updated: December 18, 2008 (WEST PATERSON, NJ)- Its season's beatings as the Independent Wrestling Federation presents the 9th Annual Tournament of Champions Weekend this Saturday, December 20, 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 21, 4 pm, at IWF Centre, 32 Willow Way, West Paterson, NJ. Here is a complete preview of the prestigious two-day, 16-man, single-elimination live events. Day one Saturday, December 20 features eight First-Round matches. The top four seeds include IWF Heavyweight Champion Kevin Knight, IWF American Champion Damian Adams, and IWF Tag Team Champions Hi-Definition Chris Steeler and The Mastodon Franciz. Adams, Steeler and Franciz represent The Ross Family, led by Commissioner Rich Ross. As seen on the IWF Eruption Monthly Webcast, Damian Adams vowed to shave his head if a Ross Family member does not capture the tournament crown. Additionally, the IWF Heavyweight Title and American Title will be defended during first-round action. Former IWF Heavyweight Champions entered in the event include Biggie Biggs, Stellar Travis Blake and King of the Streets Tony Torres. Torres captured the tournament crown last year, while Blake reigned supreme in 2006. Also selected in the upper bracket is former American and Tag Team Champion Juicy Justin Corino. A number of former IWF Tag Team Champions entered include Dark Dragon Kareem West, Mad Dawg Jenkins, Bruising Bookworm Frank Scoleri, and Latino Wonder Antonio Rivera. Rounding out the 16-man field are Perennial No-Hoper Evan Schwartz, German Menace Kraig Stagg, Hellraiser Bryan Harley, and IWF Rookie Jason Somers. The eight winners from the First-Round matches advance to the Quarterfinals. Also appearing December 20 are Commissioner Rich Ross, Junior Champion Jennifer, Jana, Portuguese Powerhouse Dan Marques, Jason Roberts, Kev Kage and more. The four Quarterfinals bouts, the Fatal-Four-Way Final, and the trophy presentation take place Sunday, December 21. Several non-tournament matches take place December 21. Also appearing December 21 are Junior Champion Jennifer, Jana, Matt Bennett, Jason Roberts, Mike Winner and more. Tickets are $10 General Admission per event. For information visit www.WrestlingIWF.com. ; Cards subject to change. ================================================================ IWF Pro Wrestling School Youth Winter Clinic December 27-28-29: 8th Annual Program for Kids Ages 12-17 in West Paterson, NJ (WEST PATERSON, NJ)- On December 27-28-29, Independent Wrestling Federation hosts the eighth annual Pro Wrestling Youth Winter Clinic at IWF Centre, 32 Willow Way, West Paterson, NJ. Daily session time is 10 am to 3 pm, with the three-day class open to boys and girls ages 12-17. Kids learn basic mat moves and ring techniques in a friendly and safe environment under the direction of IWF Heavyweight Champion Kevin Knight, a 13-year veteran and head trainer. "This amazing program provides kids a taste of what its like to be a wrestler and gain an insight into the dynamic world of sports-entertainment," said Knight. "It's a chance to get active during the holiday break from school, leap off the top rope and have some fun!" IWF stars also appear as guest instructors. All participants receive an IWF shirt and free event tickets. On the final day of the session, kids perform in a live exhibition for their families and friends. "Our kids have a blast as they emulate their favorite wrestling stars under total supervision in our padded ring…its great exercise and an incredible experience they won't forget," Knight added. This past summer, 30 youngsters from five states, including as far away as Ohio and Maryland, hit the mat during the popular clinic.
