Ring of Honor will not be releasing the controversial Larry Sweeney-Allison Danger-Bobby Dempsey angle from their sixth anniversary show on DVD and the footage won't be used "in any form" in the future. The planned Sweeey "hostile takeover" of ROH storyline will continue. According to ROH sources, The 5/10 Hammerstein Ballroom show has been one of the hottest selling tickets in company history, perhaps ever. They have already sold most of the ringside seats and are back to the ninth row on the floor. For tickets, visit www.ROHWrestling.com. The latest Ring of Honor Video Wire (linked above) features Jigsaw removing his mask. The decision to remove the mask was made jointly by Jigsaw and Gabe Sapolsky. Jigsaw felt the mask was uncomfortable while Sapolsky believed it was hurting him from connecting with the crowd and from learning facial expressions. They opted to unmask him in this manner to give him a new direction, partially because they had done a similar angle with Delirious recently and also because they didn't want to start Jigsaw's new babyface direction with a loss. The idea is that now that Jigsaw no longer has the mask to hide behind, he has to prove himself and perform. Gabe Sapolsky noted that he believes the Rising Above PPV that debuts on 3/8 is the company's best PPV yet and that the main event featuring Nigel McGuinness vs. Austin Aries for the ROH title is the best straight match the company has presented on PPV. I was in New York City when the match was taped and it's off the charts, comparable to the excellent Nigel vs. Bryan Danielson match from the Driven PPV last year. Jack Evans is recovering from his facial injuries on schedule and hopes to be back in the ring by April at the earliest. Based on the success of the recent video profile on ROH champ Nigel McGuinness, ROH will be doing more deep personality profiles. The belief is that the company needs to do them to try and get the characters over more and to give the audience more an idea of their goals and background. ROH will be doing a sitdown interview with Nigel shortly to get over his heel turn. The Age of the Fall have launched their own official website at www.ageofthefall.com with separate promos including a really strong one with Jimmy Jacobs. ROH is trying to position AOTF as an anti-authority movement and not just a heel stable. Erick Stevens and Roderick Strong are putting together the first show for their independent promotion in Florida, which debuts next month. ROH has released the 1/11 "Proving Ground" DVD from Boston, MA. I had a chance to watch most of it this week and it's a great show, particularly the Ultimate Endurance match and the Necro Butcher vs. Kevin Steen Street Fight. Tickets for the 10/10 Coral Springs, Florida debut go on sale this Friday. Announced thus far for the company's next live events - 3/14 in Dover, NJ will be the Briscoes vs. Joey Matthews & Tyler Black, Davey Richards vs. Kevin Steen and qualifying matches for the Four Corner Survival Match in Philadelphia featuring Delirious vs. Necro Butcher and Go Shiozaki vs. Brent Albright. 3/15 in Dover, NJ will feature Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Brent Albright & BJ Whitmer plus qualifying match for Philadelphia with Claudio Castagnoli vs. Davey Richards and Tyler Black vs. Erick Stevens. The 3/16 Philadelphia, PA PPV taping will feature a Four Way match featuring the winners of the qualifier, with that winner challenging ROH champ Nigel McGuinness in the main event of the PPV.
