Gail Kim's Departure from TNA

Yesterday TNAwrestling.com took down Gail Kim's profile & photo galleries, and today its been confirmed that she's gone from TNA, with talk that she's headed for the WWE. Well that is a huge shock. I mean with guys like Harris, Senshi, Tomko, Skipper, Reign, & Rellik, I wasn't surprised because they weren't really being used at the time they left. Gail Kim was on TV almost every week and was getting used extremely well and has main event Impact twice over the last 2 months & is having a big match at tonights show. It's a surprise. I don't think the division will die because of this. They still have Kong, ODB, Taylor, The Beautiful People, Roxxi, Traci, and if they ever want to show her off as an in ring talent, they've always got Cheerleader Melissa waiting in the wings. But this definately leaves a void. Gail was to TNA's Women's Division what AJ Styles was to the X Division in its infancy. I wish her the best, and hopefully she's making a good decision for herself. I can think of a few WWE Divas I'd like to see her work with (Glamazon, Mickie, Natalya) but I feel like they'd cut down her high flying stuff. Oh well. We'll see what happens. She will definately get paid more no matter how they use her, and there is nothing wrong with wanting to improve your financial situation. Trish Stratus and Lita were the best Divas that the WWE had to offer a few years back, and Mickie James is their current top diva right now. Why is that? Because they are absolutely gorgeous and look great, and they can be sexy when they have to be. However, when its time to get it done in the ring, they can get it done, and that made them easy to love and respect. Gail Kim definately falls under this category. She was arguably the best looking gal in TNA, but she was also their most exciting in ring talent, making her the perfect star for Women's Wrestling. Gail Kim's run in TNA has been something special for women's wrestling. She started off as a valet for AMW (and a damned good one at that) but started having matches here and there. The first really impressive performance was her Lockdown 2007 match with Jacqueline, which I felt was one of the better matches on the show. She continued to shine in mixed tags, and eventually won the Knockout Gauntlet at Bound for Glory 2007 to become TNA's first Women's Champion. It was a very special moment and one of the highlights of the PPV. Her biggest contribution to TNA Wrestling was her series of matches with Awesome Kong. Those were easily the best Women's Matches I have ever seen in Mainstream wrestling. Trish Stratus & Lita had their moments and great matches, and they both contributed alot, but the series of matches Gail & Kong put on were on another plateau entirely. Their matches reminded me of the amazing classics between Sting & Vader from the early days of WCW, with Kong as the seemingly unstoppable monster and Gail as the tough, high flying, underdog with a never say die attitude. And the match they had at Final Resolution this year was amazing. I still say its one of the best matches I've seen this year period. I would put that match up against any other bout that any promotion (WWE, TNA, ROH, ABC, XYZ, and so on and so on) has to offer. Now before anybody starts with the "You sold out" crap, we don't know why Gail made this decision, and if she feels she's making the right decision for herself, then that's all that matters. If its for money, there is NOTHING wrong with that at all. The title belts are nice, but at the end of the day, its all about being able to support oyurself and if she wasn't making enough in TNA, then she is making a good decision. But this is all speculation on my part. I don't know why she made this decision, but hopefully its for the best. I'm not going ot lie. I am more of a TNA fan than a WWE fan. I make that no secret, and as a TNA fna, I'd prefer it if she stayed with that company, but if she went to WWE, I'd definately tune into check her out. Besides the obvious fact that she's very nice to look at anyway, she has also improved her in ring ability to the point that one could argue she's the best in ring female talent in the United States, and I think she could add alot to Raw's women's division where there are a few talented women for her to mesh with.
