The Interactive Interview courtesy of www.WrestlingEpicenter.com
Guest: "The Human Wrestling Machine" Zeus AKA Tiny Lister
Date: 3/13/08
Your Hosts: Patrick Kelley & James Walsh
Special Contributor: Nick "Griffin" Noel
He was the big man who struck fear into the hearts of Hulkamaniacs around
the world in the movie No Holds Barred and later in the actual rings of the
World Wrestling Federation. He was big, bad, and primed for destruction.
But, the power of Hulkamania overcame. Despite that, Zeus is back and ready
to rumble one more time!
Join us as we welcome Zeus "Tiny" Lister to the air to discuss his time in
wrestling, his movies, and his upcoming role in the Batman film. This is
a fun one, and a much better interview than any of us could have hoped for.
A big man with a big heart... And, an interview to remember!
Zeus
- The interview with The Human Wrecking Machine opens up with his getting
into wrestling. He says that he had done everything in his career and worked
with a lot of people. He says hes been in acting, rap, and in wrestling,
and in each field he worked with the best of the best (Brando, Tupac, and
Hogan respectively)
- He says that Vince McMahon treated him extremely well and so did Hulk Hogan.
He says that when you get to work with the best, its an awesome situation.
He says that hes extremely blessed
- Believe it or not, Zeus goes around to schools talking to kids about religion
and resisting peer pressure.
- Zeus never went through Indy wrestling and wasnt completely trained
to wrestle, but he feels that he was able to mesh in well. He also helped
to bring in the African American audience. He says hes a natural athlete
and a Shot Put champion, so it was easier for him to fit in. There were talks
of keeping him in the WWF longer, and he says that he wishes he had done
that.
- He says that wrestling is a lot harder and more dangerous than the stunts
he does in moves. He mentions that Hogan actually broke his nose when filming
No Holds Barred.
- When asked about Savages rap album, Zeus says he hasnt heard
it, but it probably doesnt work because he feels that rap needs to
be performed by kids from the streets that understand the music.
- He says the rumor that Hulk Hogan vs. Zeus for the WWF Title was to be
the main event at Wrestlemania VI is absolutely true, but he opted not to
stick around do to his film projects.
- He says his dream is to have a successful TV show whether it be a reality
show, and he says he wouldnt be opposed to working out a deal with
Vince again.
- When talking about Vince again, he says that Vince is the best promoter
hes ever seen, and he says Vince & Hogan knew a feud between them
would work because the idea of a Big White Guy vs. a Big Black Guy would
generate interest.
- When asked about who would win a Boxing match between him and former New
York Jets defensive end and boxer Mark Gastineau, he says that he doesnt
want to put anybody down and says he was a great athlete, but also says I
live in the Murder capital of the world. What do you think would happen?
The kids call me Demo! Im from hell! This was probably the funniest
thing he said on the interview.
- James asks him about one of his favorite movies Little Nicky which Zeus
was a part of. Zeus puts over Sandler and loved working with him. The hosts
then agree that he seemed to be emulating Zeus in his role for that film.
- He has a role in the new Batman movie The Dark Knight and plays
a prisoner. He says his role is like the theif on the cross asking Jesus
to remember him in heaven. He says hes only in the movie for five minutes,
but says he has a big moment.
- Hes asked about the recent passing of Heath Ledger who obviously
plays the iconic Batman villain The Joker in the new movie. He says he never
got the chance to meet him on set, but felt he had a lot of talent and its
a shame what happened to him.
- He then talks about some of the action figures hes had, most notably
the classic Zeus figure released by the WWE.
- James brings up the late great Sherri Martels comments about him
being a great guy, but also talked about how he used to tell her about how
rough wrestling was. Zeus mentions again that he would have liked to put
more time into wrestling. He is also interested in doing TV shows and might
be getting into Horror movies (which to be honest would be perfect for somebody
who could do a role like Zeus)
- His family life is great. He is married and his wife is currently pregnant,
and everything is going well.
- When asked about his time in WCW as Z Gangsta, he says that he did it because
Hulk Hogan asked him to. And of course he liked making money and when
you work with Hogan, you make a lot of money!
- The interview ends with James agreeing to give Zeus info over to
a promoter, and stating that Zeus is a lot nicer than the character in wrestling
seemed to be. Of course Zeus responds with I really am a pretty good
actor! and tells a really funny story he scared some pro football
players!
