YNGWIE MALMSTEEN - Concerto DVD Review
Submitted By Caroline Walsh on 09/06/08

I can remember the first time I heard Yngwie. A buddy of mine at school brought in a cassette of Trilogy, I was blown away by what I was listening too. I can remember getting goose bumps by his playing and even took classical guitar lessons to get a understanding of his music and learn how play within the same style.
I must say after watching this DVD, I got the same feeling after all these years. Their truly is no denying this man's talent and command of his instrument. Often accused of "overplaying", Malmsteen truly find's himself and reaches a new musical peak. All one has to do is listen to Brother's and feel all the soul and emotion that is poured into this composition which is a stand out for me.
Also I want to make note this isn’t your standard rock orchestra, like what the Scorpions and Metallica have done in the recent past. All the compositions are pure classical. You could see the conductor and the orchestra have a deep respect for Yngwie and his work. Filmed in Japan back in 2001 it has finally been released on DVD and was well worth the $11.99 I paid for it. If you can appreciate Classical or guitar instrumental music, I highly recommend this DVD.
