Show: Wrestling Epicenter
Guest(s): Christian Cage & Lanny Poffo
Date: 12/23/05
Your Host: James Walsh
On Christmas Eve's Eve, Wrestling Epicenter brings you Season's Beatings!
This week, we deliver a Christmas special as only we can! First, Lanny "The Genius" Poffo stops by to
literally perform "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" from start to finish complete with song! It is truly a
wonderful task for Lanny to pull off while never once looking at the text. It's all done from memory and
he nails it perfectly! Maybe "The Genius" isn't a gimmick after all!
Next up, we have TNA wrestling superstar and red hot interview to get right now, Christian Cage. Christian
spends about 25 minutes with us in total but on this show, you can hear part 1 which is roughly 12 minutes
long. In part 1, Christian discusses why he jumped, why we never saw the feud between he and John
Cena materialize, and so much more involving TNA and the first wrestling match of 2006 which TNA will
have on Spike TV at Midnight on New Years Eve! Don't forget to check it out!
CHRISTIAN CAGE
- James welcomes Captain Charisma to the show and asks him if he is happy with making the jump to TNA. He says that he is happy with his decision and said he felt “it was time to move on” Christian says he is very excited to be a part of building the promotion up.
-Christian felt that both WWE and TNA have close knit locker rooms, and he says the TNA Locker Room is very excited and happy to be there.
-When talking about his in ring style, he says he likes to mix it up and adapt to different styles. He likes to mix ground attack with aerial moves citing that he’s not the greatest at either one, so it’s best to mix them together.
- When talking about the MSG segment where Christian was heavily cheered with Vince McMahon in the ring. Christian says he meant everything that he said that night, and felt he was ready to move up, but he doesn’t understand why he didn’t happen. He’s not sure why his feud with John Cena was dropped, but he says that people really wanted it.
-James asks Christian about losing to Ric Flair on an episode of Raw, and he says that if you are talented enough, then winning or losing doesn’t matter.
-Christian says that the WWE was shocked when he told them that he was leaving, but repeats that he felt it was time to move on. He says that he first watched TNA when they got onto SpikeTV and felt that TNA was a great alternative and decided that he wanted to be a part of it.
-When asked if either Chris Jericho or Chris Benoit could show up in TNA, Christian says in this business “never say never”, but says he hasn’t talked to Chris Benoit since he left WWE. He then says that Jericho didn’t seem interested in getting back into the ring the last time he spoke to him.
-Christian says that he feels that Sting will have an impact on TNA and says that having established stars like him around will help people get familiar with the new stars that will be the future of the company.
-James then asks if there are any legends that Christian would like to step into the ring with. Christian answers by saying that he has already been in the ring with so many legends (he specifically mentions his first matches with Undertaker, Hogan, Flair, Austin, and Rock), that it’s hard to say. He says being paired up with Sting is really cool, but would like to work against Sting as well.
