Shark Boy

Submitted By James Walsh on 12/01/05
Show: The Interactive Interview
Guest(s): Shark Boy & Johnny Storm
Date: 6/03
Your Hosts: Daniel Edler & James Walsh
Transcript By: James Walsh

Two of the unsung heroes of wrestling, not just in NWA-TNA where both men made huge names for themselves with the fans, but across the indy scene (America and England), Jonny Storm & Shark Boy.

The finned wonder is one of the most 'interesting' talents to grace the current indy scene, and just when this interview was recorded, he had been offered to come and view certain WWE dates.

Our interview with Jonny Storm was completely by luck, as we got the interview very much on the off chance. For information on how to book Jonny and many other FWA and Indy/XPW talents, check out www.extremebookings.com, your best source for indy talent.

SHARK BOY

-- Former TII guest Randy Savage, Brian Pillman and 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair were his main favourites as a fan growing up.

-- Trained by Les Thatcher originally then Paul Orndorff and Buddy Lee Parker in WCW Powerplant.

-- The Shark Boy was originally inspired by his theme tune, "I Come From The Water" (by The Toadies who have a CD called Rubberneck, which is highly recommended by Shark Boy). He was once called El Piranha, and after a few costume changes, he's evolved to who he is now.

-- The HWA is then mentioned, a place where Shark Boy spent a large chunk of his career.

-- He was under contract to WCW for 6 months, in which time he only made 1 Thunder appearance. He was then released along with Jeremy Lopez, Jimmy Yang, Jamie Knoble and some other guys. When WCW said they needed Cruiserweights for Saturday Night, Chris Kanyon then said to the top dogs in WCW that they just cut a few. The released guys were then re-evaluated and became Saturday Night regulars.

-- It was a huge disappointment for him when Saturday Night was stopped, as he felt it was his way to prove he could step up to the "next level".

-- Shark Boy then discusses the politics not only in WCW but also in wrestling in general.

-- He admires certain things that Vince Russo comes up with such as naming Norman Smiley 'Screamin Norman', and putting Tank Abbot with 3 Count, etc. Like most people, he has some good ideas, and some bad ideas.

-- Talk then turns to the 99 Pillman Cruiserweight Tournament in his hometown, with his father in the crowd. He shares a poignant memory of how enjoyable the parade around the ring after he won the tournament was for his late father.

-- He really enjoyed his time on the WWA tour and thinks that like WWA, the current NWA:TNA product is "very sound".

-- Note: Talking of sound, the sound quality of the interview deteriorates from here onward. Our apologies for this, it was a technical problem, things really start to jump.

-- Shark Boy then speaks about some shows which were upcoming at the time of the interview being recorded where he was invited to be backstage for WWE.

-- We then wrap up with what we can make out from the word associations including Sting, Vince McMahon, The HWA & More.
