KID EGO

Kid Ego formed in 2004 in the North of England also home to one of our biggest inspirations DEF LEPPARD for us it's all about the rock n' roll!

In 2004 it was time to escape the decadence, peer pressure and dysfunction that so many fall under during the early stages of adulthood.

Zakk writes "I knew this guy who played the bass and had met him several times at Leeds Festival. He was skinny covered in tattoos and had hair that would give Motley Crue a run for their money, so as long as he could play I new he would be perfect and play, he very much could! His name is Chris Rooke and heavily influenced by the 70's and 80's rock and punk scene, he has the look, the enthusiasm and certainly the ability to become a rock star".

We auditioned and then played with some great musicians but you know when the chemistry is ready to kick! After several months Phil Morphit joined us with a strong metal guitar background that benefited our song writing as we can create a wide variety of rock sounds. With his insane thick dreadlocks and a notorious frown for the camera, he's our man on the rhythm guitar.

Until we found a permanent drummer, Rooke knew a young kid called Nick Miller who offered his services as a temp until we found someone more permanent. Nick is the nephew of Steve Roberts, the original drummer from the notorious punk band the UK SUBS. Little did we know that our first rehearsal with him he would blow us away with his natural sense of rhythm and intense energy like a madman with a pair of sticks!

Now all we needed was a KICKING lead guitar player who could lay down some dirty solos! Many of our close friends play in local bands, one being Henry Bird aka ‘Birdy’. Birdy has 4 years experience playin' with a great York band called COMA. Due to his passion and drive to become a successful musician and tour the world, he joined us, completing the final line up.

After agreeing on a well-suited name we not only became a rockband, we became a gang. Heavily influenced by stadium rock, we play powerful and meaningful rock music that makes you want to push down harder on that accelerator.

As for our live shows and yeah! it's all about the live shows! we like to create an intense display of theatre that reflects the emotion and energy driven by each particular song. Rook's dramatic stage energy can be compared to Angus Young on speed. Birdy and Phil play like wild men posessed. Little Niki on drums has the showmanship of a young Tommy Lee. As a front man I look to my two favourite idols on stage Steve Tylor and Freddy Mercury for inspiration.
With a combination of raw energetic rock songs, guitar solos, bass and drum solos, we always give 110%.
Giving the audience their moneys worth!

Kid Ego are five young unpredictable musicians who all share the same aspirations, which is to tour the world performing to as many people as possible. The songs we write based upon life’s experiences, good or bad.
Either way come along for the ride!
