Why the Internet Wrestling Community Should Thank Hulk Hogan

Submitted By James Walsh on 06/08/12
Do you remember the hours and days, even weeks, that followed Bound for Glory 2011? You could almost tell that the pillow cushions of half the Internet Wrestling Community were in the wash with dried tears over what they felt Hulk Hogan had done to Bobby Roode. "He didn't win! HE DIDN'T WIN! ", they screamed. They were sure that by not winning, Roode would never ever get to be champion or be as over as he was at that point in time.

Fast forward about 8 months.

Bobby Roode is more over now than he ever was as a babyface. And, he's the longest running TNA champion in company history.

Hogan was right.

The thing about chances is if you don't take them, they're really just missed opportunities. This opportunity for Bobby Roode wasn't missed despite the knee-jerk reaction from the fans who wanted instant gratification. Sometimes building a story and making the character more than just a sympathetic one results in far grander results. Actually, it always does.

From the fallout of Bound for Glory, Roode has become the biggest heel TNA has had since Jeff Jarrett's hottest run. And, James Storm emerged as that sympathetic babyface character that people need but with Storm, it is more believable and less sickly-sweet.

The bottom line is this. Hulk Hogan knows how to make the best out of things. The man, who I believe to be the greatest of all time, has not been physically able to perform at his former level in perhaps a decade, perhaps longer. And yet, he's still on the cutting edge driving the ship. What he might not be able to do in the ring anymore, he can help the young guys realize in their physical prime. And, anyone who doubts that need only read what I posted above.

As I said before, Hogan was right. Hogan DOES Know Best!
