WWE WrestleMania NBC Broadcast Rating

Submitted By James Walsh on 08/05/14
Yesterday it was reported via Zap2it.com that the WrestleMania 30 special, which aired on NBC Sunday night, did 3.9 million viewers. That number was double what the WrestleMania 29 special did.

Unfortunately, when Zap2it.com released the updated numbers today, the news wasn't as good. The adjusted numbers list that the show did 2.54 million viewers, which while up from the previous year's 1.9 million viewers, doesn't come across as impressive as the 3.9 million viewers that was initially reported.

It should be noted this year's WrestleMania network premiere was the direct follow up show to the NFL Hall of Fame game which featured the New York Giants defeating the Buffalo Bills. The game is a preseason game and does not count but given it is football and the very first game, preseason or not, it did a strong number. So, a carry over audience could have contributed.

The show was also advertised on the return of Hulk Hogan which, to the casual fan, may not have been seen previously.
