Triple H Conference Call Notes & Audio

Submitted By Caroline Walsh on 05/19/15

- Here are the highlights from today’s Triple H conference call….

* As always, he is excited about tomorrow’s special and how the brand has been growing. He was happy to see the positive reviews of their weekend tour in the Northeast, and hope that the fans keep spreading the word.

* He was specifically proud of the ladies main eventing the first show in Philadelphia. He hopes that the ladies of NXT can change the perception of what women can do in the industry.

* He knows that the touring of NXT will be trial and error, and that will relate to the venues they chose and other similar logistics. He wants to be a full-fledged brand in 2016.

* Matt Bloom (formerly Tensai on WWE TV and then Jason Albert on NXT TV) is the new head coach at the WWE Performance Center. Sara Amato (Sara Del Rey) has been promoted to the #2 trainer and the assistant head coach. He also confirmed that she will be working as an agent and producer.

* Sami Zayn has been medically cleared and will face Kevin Owens tomorrow night at the NXT Takeover: Unstoppable show.

* He thanks ESPN for their work on the E:60 special. He said that it was a long process, but it was worth it. He hopes to do more specials like that, either with ESPN or on the Network.

* Triple H praised Kevin Owens’ Raw debut, and said that it shows the faith WWE has in the NXT brand. He’d like to be running three shows a week and also have the brand have a two-hour show down the line. He is happy with the brand being n the network because it is a good selling point for fans. The goal is for two NXT events per night on the weekend, one for the bigger stars and TV angles and the other working small venues in Florida with the younger talent that is less experienced.

* Triple H thinks Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks could steal the show tomorrow night.

* He confirms that Hideo Itami is injured and will not compete tomorrow at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable.

* Triple H was asked about growing the brand, and says that every one needs to remember that NXT’s primary function is to ready talent for the main roster. He said his best problem in NXT is when they are in the middle of a hot angle and Vince calls him and asks for that star on the main roster. He says so many of the NXT people are ready for the main roster, and there simply is not room for them.

* Triple H said that he is a big fan of ROH and Dragon Gate, and that he isn’t trying to compete with the, he just wants to assemble the best roster he can.

* When asked about Samoa Joe, he said that Joe was a phenomenal talent. He did say that Joe was at the Performance Center a month or two ago, and wasn’t sure that they will do business together. Triple H said that he spoke with Joe for about 5 minutes, but it was mostly just exchanging pleasantries.

* When asked about rumors of ROH talent turning down NXT contracts in favor of ROH, he said NXT hadn’t spoken to any of those said talents on any level.

* His goal from day one was to make NXT into its own brand, but he didn’t tell anyone that.

* Triple H said not all NXT gimmicks will work on the main roster, and there are plenty of talents in NXT that unfortunately won’t make it on the main roster, but that’s the nature of the business.

* When asked about how much Vince pays attention to NXT, he said that Vince watches bits and pieces of the product, but he doesn’t see all of it.

* Triple H discussed John Cena, and feels he is not going anywhere. He feels that Cena is confident in giving younger talents the ability to shine with the U.S. Title Open Challenge, and he also added sometimes characters need to be pushed in different directions and into different roles.

* Triple H said Vince McMahon was “blown away” by the NXT live event over WrestleMania weekend. He added that he didn’t know Vince would be there until last minute, but Vince along with several other top WWE officials were very pleased with NXT and they want to do a lot more with the brand.

* There are no plans to run an all female NXT special, but said “you never know”.
