TNA Slammiversary Review

Submitted By Will Barber on 06/30/15
TNA Slammiversary Review: I just got around to viewing this year's TNA Slammiversary last night in its entirety. I, overall think it was a solid show rating with a B. However, I would put a Big Question Mark at the end of that B. B? The opening X Division Match between Tigre Uno, DJ Z and Manik was a good opener. It's always good to have a high flying acrobatic match to start the show. Remember the Rockers/Oriental Express matches from the early 90s. Pay Per Views of the past thirty years have proven that this is always true. The Robbie E/Jessie Godderz match wasnt a bad match but not a great one. I felt like Godderz has built up some legit heat as a heel. However, I feel they could have had a better way of having the Babyface go over. Bram vs. Matt Morgan: A fine match with both the hardcore and simple wrestling elements. Not much else to say except one can hope Matt Morgan stays put. Austin Aries v. Davey Richards: This was probably one of the better matches of the night. I feel both men have undeniable talent and Aries is perfect as a heel. However, is Austin Aries staying? Awesome Kong and Brook vs. the Doll House: While I'm not a fan of the Doll House gimmick or what TNA is doing with Brooke's character, I thought it was a pretty good match all things considered. Good female psychology. However Awesome Kong's dominance made Brooke look like less of a factor in this match imo. James Storm vs. Magnus: Pretty good match for the type of match it was. I would put in neck and neck with Aries/Richards. I like what they did with the High Voltage take at the back of the building. Despite a cheesy ending with the Beer Bottles, a good performance by both men. Another good match that ends with a Question mark as to the status of both James Storm and Magnus. Ethan Carter III and Tyrus vs. Bobby Lashley and Mr. Anderson: A decent match but not an exciting one. I will admit Bobby Lashley has gained some more Wrestling Psychology over the years. I had never seen him work that well ever. While his mic and wrestling skills will always be a 2, I feel he has improved his method of working a match as has everyone else here including Brodus (Excuse Me Tyrus) King of the Mountain Match Jeff Jarrett defeats Matt Hardy, Drew Galloway, Eric Young and Bobby Roode: Well we all knew who was going to win this one TNA Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett. Not a good match for a Pay Per View due to lack of Build Up and the fact that the concept IMO of King of the Mountain is a Hodge Podge Mess. Nonetheless, it was somewhat entertaining and it was good to see Jarrett in decent shape.

While a good show, there's a Big Question Mark that looms at the end of this show. It's not so much the status of James Storm, Aries and the Pope (Good mic work by Elijah Burke btw) its more of "Where do we go from here?" "What will Jarrett and GFW do with TNA talent?" Most importantly, "Will there ever be another TNA PPV for that matter?" It felt like an end of an era, An era I should say that never found its proper leggings.
