Results from PROGRESS Wrestling “Chapter 39: The Graps of Wrath”, held on November 27th at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, building to a main event to crown a new PROGRESS World Champion, after Mark Haskins vacated the title due to injury in October:

1: The South Pacific Power Trip (TK Cooper & Travis Banks) (w/Dahlia Black) defeated F.S.U. (Eddie Dennis & Mark Andrews) in the first qualifying match for the PROGRESS World Championship Elimination Match, when Black interfered in F.S.U. hitting their finisher – this result also confirmed the South Pacific Power Trip as number one contenders for the PROGRESS Tag Team Championship.

2: Pastor William Eaver (w/Sebastian) defeated Joe Coffey in the second main event qualifying match, when Sebastian got up on the apron to distract Coffey – afterwards, Sebastian revealed that per his and Eaver’s agreement following Eaver injuring Sebastian at Chapter 36, Sebastian would replace Eaver in the main event.

3: British Strong Style (Pete Dunne & Trent Seven) defeated the London Riots (James Davis & Rob Lynch) to retain the PROGRESS Tag Team Championship, and qualify for the elimination main event with a kick by Dunne into a piledriver by Seven.

4: Matt Riddle defeated Will Ospreay in the fourth qualifying match via submission – a fully energetic sub-10 minute match that started with Riddle jumping Ospreay before the bell, and going at full speed from there, including some incredible acrobatics from Ospreay, and great submissions by Riddle. The easiest recommendation of this show when it goes up on Demand PROGRESS.

5: Jimmy Havoc defeated Marty Scurll via disqualification in the final qualifying match – the match started as a tribute to Goldberg vs. Lesnar at Survivor Series with Havoc as Goldberg. After ten minutes of brawling, Havoc took Scurll’s umbrella and threw it to him in the style of Eddie Guerrero, getting Scurll disqualified.

6: Nixon Newell defeated Katey Harvey in the first round of the Natural Progression Series to determine the first PROGRESS Women’s Champion – a well worked 10 minute match that ended in Newell hitting the Shiniest Wizard on Harvey, who had a good debut. Newell is really over with the PROGRESS fans.

7: Pete Dunne defeated TK Cooper, Travis Banks, Sebastian, Trent Seven, Matt Riddle and Jimmy Havoc in a seven way elimination match to become the new PROGRESS World Champion – Havoc was jumped from behind before the match by Marty Scurll, and missed the first several minutes. Riddle was massively over, and ran wild on everyone early, eventually eliminating Cooper. Jack Sexsmith ran in to prevent Sebastian from cheating, leading to Havoc coming back and eliminating him. After Banks was eliminated via a middle rope Piledriver by Seven, British Strong Style teamed up to eliminate Riddle, who left to a standing ovation.

Havoc battled in a 2-on-1 disadvantage to eliminate Trent Seven, but Seven stayed in the ring to try and help Pete Dunne, leading to a ref bump. After a beat-down, Seven’s former tag team partner Tyler Bate returned to PROGRESS, seemingly to even the odds, but shocked everyone by punching Havoc, joining up with British Strong Style. Dunne hit the Drop Dead facebuster to win the title, becoming the first wrestler to hold both the World Title and the Tag Team Title at the same time.

The next PROGRESS show is “Chapter 40: Intercepted Angel” on December 11th at the O2 Academy in Sheffield, featuring Adam Cole vs. Will Ospreay and Bea Priestley vs. Toni Storm, followed by “Chapter 41: Unboxing Live!” on December 30th in Camden, which will be a mystery show with no matches announced ahead of time.
