Lucha Underground, which was placed on an unplanned mid-season hiatus in January, is reported to be returning on May 31st.
The promotion was running weekly shows and mentioned nothing of a planned break during the broadcasts except commercial breaks after the shows finished. Story-telling wise, it made absolutely no sense to break up the season like this. The impact it could have on the TV ratings upon its return remains to be seen.
Season 3 was filmed in April of 2016 which means the episodes will be over a year old upon its return. Seasons 1 and 2 were placed on Netflix and many episodes from those season have run during Lucha Underground's usual time slot on the El Rey Network.
Lucha Underground Season 4 is rumored to be filming in August or September of 2017. As it stands now, the company may have to make some changes as their roster has changed. Pentagon and Fenix have cut ties with AAA, Lucha Underground's parent company. Jack Evans was fired from AAA and Sexy Starr has cut ties with the Lucha giant as well to focus on boxing though she is rumored for the WWE Women's Tournament this summer.
