Eric Bischoff Does Not Feel the Impact/AAA Partnership Matters

Eric Bischoff doesnít think that iMPACT! Wrestlingís partnership with AAA will mean much in the long term. Bischoff discussed the news on the latest episode of his Bischoff on Wrestling podcast and said that with neither company making much money, itís not going to make a difference in anything for either promotion.

ďIím just having such a hard time unpacking the meaning or the relevance of that story,Ē he said. ďFirst of all, I love Lucha Underground, I watch it and I dig it as a television product. It gets no ratings. Itís making no money. It has no live event market. To my knowledge they donít have any licensing or merchandising. Itís just content. Itís very expensive content and itís cool as hell, donít get me wrong. Itís cool content but there is no money in it. The fact that the athletes that portray the characters on a show that doesnít make any money have the privilege of working on another show that doesnít make any money and they canít even be the characters that arenít making money on another networkÖ to me it just seems kind of irrelevant. It doesít matter.Ē

He continued, ďImpact doesnít make any money. They make zero money in television and licensing fees. They basically give their show away to Pop TV. Itís like an infomercial hoping that they are going to find another way to make revenue. They donít have live events, they donít have merchandising and they wonít be making any money from YouTube as of now. So, what the hell difference does it make? Why is this a headline? A bunch of guys from Mexico get the privilege of working for a company that doesnít pay anybody any money for an opportunity to not make any money? Eh, good for everybody. Iím happy theyíre all happy. Itís great headlines. Great perception. If you can make a living off creating cheap headlines that donít really matter good for you. At the end of the day itís a non-issue issue.Ē
