Cedric Alexander spoke with the Poughkeepsie Journal for a new interview promoting the 205 Live house show debut at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center. Highlights are below:

On his indy match in the arena back in 2010: That was my first match in New York and the first place I wrestled outside of the south. That wasnt too long after my debut it wasnt even a year. I remember not knowing I was supposed to wrestle that day. The night before, we were somewhere else and I was a cameraman and selling DVDs and merchandise and toy belts. Obviously, since then, Ive had a ton of growth. To think that was nearly eight years ago, and now Im facing Enzo Amore in the same building, in the main event of a show, for WWE no less. Its really surreal. I was some random kid who got lucky because someone didnt show up and now Im one of the main attractions. I made the 11-hour drive from North Carolina and I brought my gear anyway.

On 205 Live going on the road: Its an opportunity to branch out and create a whole new brand. They werent just the best cruiserweights in the world. They were the best wrestlers in the world. 205 Live is getting more and more popular every day. Im very confident that sooner, rather than later, it could be one of the hottest brands going. Its a byproduct of us working hard, like NXT when they started. Were taking a new crop of superstars and were in a building phase. Were slowing building the foundation, one brick at a time, and Poughkeepsie is a great town for us to build, slowly but surely.

On getting signed due to the Cruiserweight Classic: That whole experience was shocking, to say the least. I said that Kota [Ibushi] is the guy Id really want to get in the ring with. It was like a bucket list item I never really knew was on my bucket listI gave my heart and soul out there and did my best, but the other guy won. If you go back and look at it, I ended up with way more notoriety than Kota out of that. I pretty much made my name.
