Details on Roman Reigns Cutting a Type of 'Worked Shoot' Promo on Raw

During The Wrestling Observer Radio this week, Dave Meltzer commented on Roman Reigns’ cutting a type of “worked-shoot” promo on Raw this week. As previously reported, Meltzer claimed during his show that the change to have Brock Lesnar beat Reigns in the main event at WrestleMania 34 was made just a few days before the event. Additionally, the nature of the finish was kept from “everyone” in the WWE, including writers and lead producers, who were reportedly expecting Reigns to win the match. Even the referee apparently didn’t what the finish would be until the match started.
The following night on Raw, Reigns talked about how everything at the event “felt off” and stated that Vince couldn’t even look him in the eyes.

Commenting on Reigns’ Raw promo, Meltzer stated: “Roman Reigns did a promo on RAW and I don’t know exactly how much of a shoot that was when he was talking about not knowing and Vince McMahon not looking him in the eye and all that, but it’s obviously a promo because they want you to know. It was a promo to make you read between the lines.”

Reigns will get another shot at Lesnar at the Greatest Royal Rumble event later this month in a Steel Cage match.
