Fan At WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony Hospitalized Due to Measles

Posted By Caroline Walsh on 04/11/18

A fan who was in New Orleans for WrestleMania weekend and attended the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony was hospitalized for measles. FOX 8 News Orleans’ Allen Henry reports that the fan, who came in from the UK, was in attendance at Friday’s Hall of Fame ceremony but had to be hospitalized on Saturday.

As of now, Henry notes that it is not known if the fan attended any other events. Measels symptoms don’t typically show until seven to fourteen days after infection. The CDC lists symptoms appearing as follows:

Initial symptoms: high fever, cough, runny nose (coryza), and red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis).

Two to three days after initial symptoms: tiny white spots (Koplik spots) may appear inside the mouth.

WGNO reports that Louisiana’s Office of Public Health is working with the New Orleans City health department to identify and notify those who may have come into contact with this person and to implement measures to help prevent the spread of the virus.

BREAKING: The UK tourist hospitalized with measles was at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony Friday before being hospitalized on Saturday. Attendees are receiving notifications from @LADeptHealth now. We’ll have more on @FOX8NOLA.
