Matt Riddle Compares MMA to Pro Wrestling

Matt Riddle compared wrestling and MMA fans in a new interview with MMAjunkie. Riddle said that wrestling fans are more invested in the story and the talent than those who specifically watch mixed martial arts.

“Wrestling fans are like people going to see Shakespeare,” he said. “They come, they have a favorite character, they’re invested in the story and they know it’s a story. They’re all about how well you play your part, whatever that part is. MMA fans are more like people going to the Coliseum. They don’t care whether you kill the tiger or the tiger kills you. All they know is somebody’s going to die today. That’s how it feels when you’re in the UFC. Nobody gives a (expletive) about you. You could be fighting in your hometown, and if you get knocked out the crowd’s still going to roar.”

– Here is the latest episode of NWA’s Ten Pounds of Gold YouTube series. The episode is described as follows:

“History was made on April 14th, 2018 – Colt Cabana vs. Nick Aldis for the the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in Wenzhou, China. The famous Ten Pounds of Gold had never been defended in the People’s Republic of China before that day. This episode of Ten Pounds of Gold shows the real and authentic journey of Nick Aldis and Colt Cabana as they traveled from the United States to Wenzhou, China to make history.”
