Recent Trademark Applications by MLW and NJPW Refused

– PWInsider reports that New Japan Pro Wrestling’s three trademark applications in the US for Strong Style, King of Sports and Strong Style Evolved were given initial refusals. This was because the applications were submitted without signatures, so they weren’t verified properly.

– Meanwhile, Major League Wrestling also filed trademark applications, including two for War Games. It was refused, possibly to avoid confusion with the film Wargames, as well as confusion with the services provided by both companies for their trademarks. MLW is focused on wrestling through various outlets while MGM is focused on production and distribution of DVDs. Th USPTO said there would be confusion. MLW provided screenshots with the websites for WWE, ROH and Highspots to show examples of companies that produce DVDs with wrestling.
