During his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase reflected on Arn Anderson announcing his retirement from wrestling in 1997 during an episode of WCW Monday Nitro…

“It was great television, but it was the truth. That’s the other thing. It’s like, a lot of the things that happen in our business — obviously it’s sports entertainment. But I mean, that really happened to Arn, and he had to lay it down.”

DiBiase was also asked about the New World Order’s parody of Anderson retiring. DiBiase said the following about Kevin Nash dressing up as Anderson and mocking him…

“I’ve seen it. And I’m sorry, that was disgusting. It’s one thing when you work a program, and it’s a work. It’s like, it’s not real. It’s like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna make-believe that somebody’s retiring and something now you go out and give that speech to something like that’s gonna end up backfiring later.’ Okay, but when you’re talking about a real guy who really got to retire, that’s — I don’t know. I just — [it was] tasteless.” (quotes courtesy of 411Mania.com)
