Lex Luger was one of the biggest pro wrestling stars of the ’90s, yet he hasn’t yet been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Precisely why he remains absent is purely speculation, although many fans believe it’s because of the death of Miss Elizabeth, who overdosed from a mixture of drugs and alcohol while the pair were dating in 2003.

At the time, Luger was arrested due to having illicit controlled substances in his home, although Elizabeth’s death was eventually deemed accidental. And now, during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, the former WCW star has addressed those who still hold him responsible.
“People go, ‘Well, he killed Elizabeth.’ Well, I didn’t kill her. But was I a contributing factor to the lifestyle I was living and her being around me all the time, and she overdosed? Absolutely … I hate to admit it, who I was back then, instead of being so grieving over the loss of Liz, I was grieving over what this would do to me and my career.”

Miss Elizabeth, real name Elizabeth Hulette, broke into the wrestling business in the mid-80s after meeting Randy Savage at a gym. Subsequently, she would date and then marry Savage and soon found herself one of the biggest stars on WWE television within just a few years. However, after she separated from Savage in real life, she stepped away from the business, with most presuming her career as a valet was over.
Still, thanks to WCW offering big money to virtually anyone who had ever worked for WWE, she would return in 1996, first managing her ex-husband Savage, then Ric Flair, and then joining the nWo, which led to her dating Luger. Sadly, her relationship with Luger was toxic, with both struggling with addictions, and after she mixed painkillers and vodka, the former WWE star would die aged just 42.
