As seen during the April 4th 2025 edition of WWE Smackdown, it was revealed that Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens for WWE WrestleMania 41 had been canceled due to Owens needing neck surgery. It was later reported that Owens was getting a second opinion from a neck surgeon that previously worked with Orton.

While speaking to Bernard Colas for le10Sport, Owens provided an update on his situation…

“It’s a very slow process. I still haven’t had the operation. There are lots of things to consider before the operation. We wait a little bit to see how things are going to evolve naturally. There’s no doubt that I need an operation, but before we do the surgery, we just need to see how well it can… not to recover, because it won’t get well, but slightly improve without surgery. Thereafter, we will be able to make a plan and decide what is the best thing to do for the operation. But it’s a very slow process. You just have to have patience. I don’t usually have a lot of patience, but here I have no choice. It would be wrong to be able to tell you right now that I’m definitely going to come back to the ring.”
