Bandido is currently dealing with an issue getting his visa renewed, according to a new report. The ROH World Champion hasn’t competed in AEW or ROH since AEW Revolution two weeks ago, when he lost a non-title match to Andrade El Idolo. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that he is in the midst of issues with getting his visa taken care of.
It is not currently clear if Bandido’s AEW work will be affected by the issues. The Trump Administration announced in January (per ESPN) that a number of competitions described as “major sporting events” would be able to travel to the US to work despite broad visa ban on nearly 40 countries. Listed among such sports leagues as the NBA, NFL, the WNBA, Major League Baseball and NASCAR were WWE, the UFC, and AEW. However, the WON notes that it “doesn’t necessarily” seem to apply to Mexico so it’s not clear if Bandido can work AEW events in the US and thus far, he hasn’t since Revolution.
Bandido has been forced to pull out of some independent appearances due to the issues, but should still be able to perform in Canada as it allows entertainers and athletes from foreign countries to perform. AEW is doing a loop of Canada through mid-April including AEW Dynamite and Collision next week in Winnipeg, Dynamite and Collision in Edmonton, Alberta on April 8th, and AEW Dynasty in Vancouver, British Columbia on April 12th. Their next AEW taping in the US is the April 15th Dynamite and Collision taping in Everett, Washington.
It’s not clear how long it may take Bandido to clear up his visa at this time.
