BREAKING: A major lawsuit involving Vince McMahon and several other current and former WWE executives is headed toward a settlement after a scheduled trial was abruptly canceled.
The case was originally set to go before Delaware's Court of Chancery this week in a four-day trial overseen by Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster. Court officials removed the matter from the calendar at the last minute, leading to speculation that the two sides may have reached an agreement behind the scenes.
The lawsuit was brought by WWE shareholders against McMahon, Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, George Barrios, and Michelle Wilson over WWE's 2023 merger with UFC. The plaintiffs alleged that McMahon favored Endeavor during the sale process in order to preserve his own role within the company, while overlooking potentially better offers from other interested parties. According to the lawsuit, that decision prevented a fully competitive bidding process and cost shareholders significant value.
An important update has now emerged regarding the canceled trial. According to Brandon Thurston, Delaware Court Administrator Tamara Burton confirmed that the parties have reached an agreement in principle.
Burton stated:
"At the parties' request, the trial is cancelled. The parties have advised the court that they will present the settlement for approval in due course."
