According to Brian Last on Jim Cornette's podcast, Arn Anderson opted to leave AEW back in August.

Arn had been with AEW for quite some time first managing Cody Rhodes and then having a brief stint with the likes of Wardlow. He was starting to do stuff with his son Brock Anderson but that ended up being more or less a squash match situation and as a result, he opted to depart the company.

Arn left just before Ric Flair came in. The two original Horsemen have had a less than great relationship since the glory days and are no longer as thick as thieves. Still, the departure of Arn happening before Flair returned to TBS is a little sad since good things could have come from it for the older wrestling fans.
