In April of 2025, it was reported that AEW star Brian Cage had torn his quadriceps at an independent show. In an Instagram post, Cage revealed that he decided to have knee surgery while recovering from his quad injury.

While speaking to The All F’N Wrestling Show, Cage commented on the possibility of returning to AEW as a babyface due to The Don Callis Family adding more members during his absence…

“I have no idea about any sort of creative plans for a return at all at this point. So, I mean, I guess anything could be possible. It’s funny too because I don’t think Don wanted that many people to begin with, and then I thought he kind of thought it was funny and was almost doing it comically, like making a joke about it, start adding people. And now it’s just like, now it’s over the fact that everyone’s just joining The Don Callis Family.

Yeah, so I guess I come back and join him and be, you know, a super team. Or I don’t know why I would fight against him, though. Nothing’s happened, so I’m not really sure what’s going on… There’s a whole wide open versatility of what could happen, because there’s nothing set in stone at all for when I’m coming back or what I’m going to do when I come back.”
