Freddie Prinze Jr. claims he heard from a Disney friend that ESPN is “so unhappy” with the WWE deal

During his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. said the following while reviewing John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio from the 2025 Survivor Series PLE…

“It’s his [Cena’s] final PPV on ESPN. ESPN, by the way, is so unhappy with the deal. I was talking to a friend of mine who works for Disney, and he was just like, ‘Yo, they’re so-they better make their money back on this deal.’ Like he just said, ‘They’re hot.’ Guys, we gotta buy more PLEs.”

In November of 2025, ESPN President Burke Magnus stated that the company’s partnership with WWE has “gone great so far.” Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com wrote the following message via Twitter/X…

“I asked sources in WWE and ESPN about Freddie Prinze Jr’s comments about ESPN being unhappy with WWE. A WWE higher up said ‘no one in WWE upper management is aware of Freddie Prinze’s role in wrestling or otherwise.’ An ESPN rep claimed that they haven’t heard that chatter, and have enjoyed working with WWE.”
